Vibration & Movement Issues
Hoses designed to address vibration and movement are essential in industrial piping systems, providing solutions for pipework misalignment, vibration elimination, and movement accommodation. These flexible assemblies ensure proper alignment and connection between pipes, valves, and equipment, streamlining installation and reducing maintenance requirements.
In applications where vibration needs to be minimized, such as in pump connections, refrigeration units, and air conditioner compressors, hoses absorb vibrations and reduce stress on connected components, enhancing equipment reliability and minimizing maintenance. Additionally, these hoses can accommodate lateral movements caused by thermal expansion, contraction, and seismic forces.
High-vibration
Scenarios
Flexible metal hoses, commonly used in high-vibration scenarios like exhaust and pump systems, can absorb movement and prevent rigid pipes and equipment from cracking under stress. However, they are not designed to accommodate axial movement without specific configurations like traveling loops, U-loops, or V-loops. Improper installation can lead to hose failure due to axial compression or torsion, which causes metal fatigue and cracking.
In some cases, metal bellows are used to damp vibrations, but they can become brittle over time due to work hardening, leading to stress cracking. Properly designed hoses and bellows protect piping systems from the harmful effects of vibration and movement, ensuring long-term durability and functionality.
